adobe cs3 photshop problems booting up...

Photoshop 3 keeps crashing while trying to boot up.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no success

to cure the issue. The crash happens right after the

text pops up: BUILDING MARK TWAIN

Also, tried downloads on adobe support with no

luck.

Using powerbook G4

10.4.11

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Look for and disable the TWAIN plug-in and disable it by putting a tilde ~ in front of its file name. It conflicts with poorly written scanner drivers, most notably with certain Epson models.

[In CS4 the TWAIN plug-in doesn't even get installed in a default installation of Photoshop.]

Then use the scanner's stand-alone software or a scanning utility like VueScan or SilverFast to scan outside of Photoshop. It's much more efficient, as you can continue to work in Photoshop while you scan.

Incidentally, there are a gazillion posts on this subject, which can find by doing a forum search.

It should be in the FAQs too, but if it's not, the powers that be can put a remedy to that.
